The Turkish president, Recep Erdoğan, at a ceremony marking the anniversary of the failed coup.Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, beamed as he looked upon the sea of red Turkish flags nearly a year ago. Millions had gathered in Istanbul’s Yenikapı Square near the shore of the Sea of Marmara for a roaring celebration of the people’s sacrifice and victory against coup plotters who had nearly overthrown the democratically elected government. It was a rare show of unity, with citizens of all stripes overtaken by patriotic sentiment. Church in tailing pondRomania has served a Canadian mining company with a $8.6m back taxes bill days after the company filed a $4.4bn compensation claim over a stalled project in the country. Gabriel Resources tried for more than 18 years to get necessary permits for an opencast mine to extract Europe’s largest gold deposits from beneath the village of Roșia Montană in the Apuseni mountains. But the project was halted in 2013 after tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets for three weeks of mass protests. Addressing peers and MPs in the House of Lords as part of his state visit to the UK, King Felipe VI said there while there had “been estrangements, rivalries and disputes” in the countries’ history, those were now relegated to the past. Read more HERE.

Image result for Trump Jr was told of Russian efforts to help campaign – report Donald Trump Jr was informed in an email ahead of a meeting with a Russian lawyer that damaging information about Hillary Clinton to be handed over was part of an effort by the Russian government to help the Trump campaign, the New York Times has reported.

The Times did not publish the email – sent by Rob Goldstone, the intermediary who set up the meeting – but reported that three different people had described it to them...Read more HERE.

Residents in the Schanzenviertel district of Hamburg pass by a pile of burned debris following looting and rioting by G20 protesters. Allies of the German chancellor, have called for new curbs on leftwing extremists, including a Europe-wide register, after her decision to hold the G20 world leaders’ summit in Hamburg ended in violent clashes and injuries to nearly 500 police officers.

The cost of the damage has not yet been established but is expected to run into millions of euros. Merkel, who faces a parliamentary election on 24 September, has said that Hamburg residents who suffered damage will be properly compensated. Read more HERE.
