Amsterdam is planning to increase taxes on tourists by as much as €10 a night, as the authorities attempt to limit stag weekends and visitors to the red-light district and reclaim the city for residents.

Hurricane Irma remains an “extremely dangerous” hurricane, but it has been downgraded from category 5 to 4 with slightly decreased wind speeds of 150mph (250kph), as it ploughs over the Bahamas, 400 miles south-east of Florida.
Captain Stephen Russell, of the Bahamas national emergency management agency, said he fears for hundreds of islanders who ignored evacuation orders. “The destructive force of a 25ft surge: that is our greatest concern. It can really cause catastrophic results,” he said. Read more HERE.

The group, dubbed “Dragonfly” by researchers at Symantec, has been in operation since at least 2011 but went dark in 2014 after it was first exposed, secretly placing backdoors in the industrial control systems of power plants across the US and Europe. Lego has announced plans to cut 1,400 jobs before the end of the year after the first drop in sales in more than a decade.
The Danish toymaker said the cuts amounted to 8% of its global workforce. Revenue fell 6% in the first half of 2017 to 14.9bn Danish krone (£1.8bn). “We are very sorry to make changes which may interfere with the lives of many of our colleagues,” said Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, chairman of the group.
