Theresa May will call on EU leaders to be more “imaginative and creative” about Brexit in her long-awaited speech in Florence, after Michel Barnier, the EU’s chief negotiator, warned that a substantive offer to settle the UK’s bills was needed to break the deadlock in talks.

Japan must brace itself for the possible launch of a nuclear-armed North Korean missile over its territory if the regime carries out a threat to test a hydrogen bomb in the Pacific Ocean, Japan’s defence minister has said.
The warning followed an extraordinary exchange of insults between Donald Trump and North Korea in response to the US president’s threat at the UN general assembly to “totally destroy” the country if Washington was forced to defend itself or its allies. Read more HERE.
One of the prestige projects of Angela Merkel’s outgoing coalition government has been thrown into doubt after a Berlin court ruled that a recently introduced rent-control law violates Germany’s constitution.
The so-called Mietpreisbremse or “rental price brake” was introduced two years ago with the aim of barring landlords in property hotspots from increasing rents by more than 10% above a local benchmark. In June 2015 Berlin became the first German state to implement the new regulation. Read more HERE.
